Erik Dodier & Thomas Obrey

In 1992, Erik Dodier was a recent graduate from the University of New Hampshire working at Cabletron Systems training sales people with multimedia tools. Thomas “TJ” Obrey, a former Dover High School classmate of Erik’s was coincidentally responsible for developing these assets. Identifying a unique opportunity with this relationship, Erik approached TJ asking if he thought a partnership could be forged.  The unlikely duo would launch PixelMEDIA in 1994 in Dodier’s apartment, with Erik responsible for Sales, and TJ responsible for development.

In the 17 years since being founded, PixelMEDIA has evolved into a full-service web strategy and application development company employing 60 people in a LEED Certified Office on Pease Tradeport. The co-founders have remained dedicated to developing and communicating a strong company culture based on “7 Core Values”.  These values are manifested on a daily basis, particularly when it comes to paying forward the success that has befallen PixelMEDIA and its co-founders through their hard work and dedication to their clients, industry, and community.

Erik and TJ’s unwavering commitment to client service has directly contributed to the acquisition of clients including Samuel Adams, Bauer Hockey, and Ecco Shoes, and garnered recent recognition including “2011 Business of the Year”, “Coolest Companies for Young Professionals”, and “Best Companies to Work For”.

Come listen to how this unlikely pair got started with credit cards and Cabletron stock, made every mistake (at least once) along the way, and what they see as the direction of social media and social awareness.
